How this site is written
Editorial standards.
Who pays for this, where the physiology comes from, what would make a page change, and the conflicts that exist — stated before you ask.
How this is funded, and by whom
The site is funded by network membership, which is bought and managed once at the network console and carries across every guide in the network. That is the entire commercial relationship, and it is with the reader rather than with any industry this site writes about. Membership is live: there is no waiting list, no early-access arrangement and nothing coming soon.
No price appears anywhere in this site or in its source, and the SI (super intelligence) guide will not state one, estimate one or hint at one. The current price is shown on the join page and nowhere else, because a figure written into a page is a figure that drifts, and a stale price is a promise nobody meant to make.
The body pages, the safety page and the withdrawal information are free and stay free. Nothing commercial is shown to a reader who is drunk, frightened, ashamed or mid-crisis.
Independence, in both directions
No supplement company, equipment maker, clinic, physiotherapist, dietitian, sleep clinic, lifestyle brand, retreat, app or fellowship pays for anything here. No referral fee, commission, finder's fee, retainer, advertising, sponsorship, affiliate arrangement or hospitality has ever been accepted from any of them, and none will be. There is no arrangement under which a brand can appear here, improve its position here, or have criticism removed.
Where a compound is named on this site it is named generically — the compound, not the brand — and it is named because the evidence puts it there. The full refusals list is here, and every commercial offer this desk has turned down across the whole network is logged on the network's transparency desk rather than duplicated on this page. One ledger per fact.
Declared conflict
James Roberts was a paying patient at Delamere, a residential treatment centre in Cheshire, in June 2020. That is the origin of this work and it is a conflict, so it is declared wherever it could matter. That centre receives no favourable treatment here, is not named as the best, and is not recommended. He also ran a guest house in Tenerife where a good many guests were in recovery; it is sold, no longer operating, and never offered here as somewhere to go.
Where the physiology comes from, and where it stops
This site separates three things and labels which is which on the page. Settled physiology is kept to what national clinical guidance and national health service information already say plainly, and it is linked where a link exists. Partial evidence is called partial: fascia, the gut microbiome and long-term post-alcohol nutrition all have evolving evidence bases, and where the practice on this site runs ahead of the literature, the page says so in that sentence rather than in a footnote. Lived practice is attributed to one named man on a stated date, and is never presented as a finding.
Nothing here invents a statistic. Where a number is not known, this site says it is not known. Figures that are one man's own are labelled as his, with the note that his clinician reviews them, and they are published as an order of magnitude rather than as an instruction to anybody else.
What this site will not publish
A dose. A supplement regime. A protocol, a plan or a timetable. A tapering schedule, a medication schedule, or anything else that could be followed instead of seeing a doctor. An interpretation of anybody's blood result. A named recommendation of one clinic, physiotherapist, dietitian or supplement brand over another. A telephone number, because they change and they are different in every country. Before-and-after content, photographs of bodies, or metrics turned into a leaderboard. A promise of change. A method with a name on it.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, it gets changed rather than defended, and the correction is made on the page where the error was. Anything material — a physiological claim, a description of what a marker is, a statement about what evidence shows — is corrected within seven days of being shown to be wrong. Tell the site through the SI guide, or through the contact route at the network console.
How the SI guide is governed
The guide runs on a written brief that sets what it may and may not say. It may explain what is happening in the body and name the source of a claim. It may not diagnose, rate severity, give a dose or a regime, set a timetable, read a result, name a best anything, quote a price, or generalise what is said here about alcohol to any other substance. It asks where a reader is before answering anything that depends on it, because this site does not assume anyone is British.
A separate safety check runs on every message. Where it fires — withdrawal, an acute medical situation, an abnormal result, crisis, abuse, a child at risk — the ordinary conversation stops and the safety routes are given instead, never shortened, never counted against an allowance, and never accompanied by anything commercial. The guide is an SI and can be wrong. It says so on every page it appears on.
